Teaching Dispositions: Teacher candidates will foster a caring and professional relationship with students that focus on acceptance and their educational needs.
I had the opportunity to participate in part of the Early Years Enhancement (EYE) evaluation done by the principal at Arrowhead Elementary School in Santa Clara, Utah. During my senior year of the Elementary Education program I did an apprentice at Arrowhead, and Mrs. Harrah, the principal, gave me the chance to see what first year teachers go through. This artifact provides evidence of teaching disposition(DM6) because I was able to reflect on the lesson that I taught and take into consideration the comments that she gave me. One point that she made is that I was creating relationships with the students in my class, yet focusing on their educational needs. This artifact provides evidence that I will be able to continue fostering a caring and professional relationship with my students.
During the Spring 2009 semester I took a Parent Involvement class. In this class I created two postcards that I will be able to use to communicate with my students and their parents. The first postcard I plan to send to my students is thisone . Students will receive it before school starts. This artifact provides evidence of teaching disposition(DM6) because it welcomes the students and lets them know how excited I am to be their teacher. They will realize the concern I have for them and their educational needs. This will also help build a relationship with the students before they enter into my classroom. I also created a parent postcard that could be sent home to help build relationships with them. This form of communication will help parents realize the care and concern I have for their children. This artifact provides evidence that I will be able to continue fostering a caring and professional relationship with my students
