Diversity

Diversity: Teacher candidates understand that diversity differences affect learning and know how to provide educational opportunities that meet the needs of all students.

I had the opportunity to interview someone that would be considered diverse and had my eyes opened to the reality that English Language Learners (ELL’s) face in the classroom setting. This artifact provides evidence of diversity (DM1) and my awareness that there will be diversity in my class. I am now more aware of the thoughts and feelings that ELL’s have. I did not realize the stress that they feel when it comes to learning something in a different language. This article provides evidence that I will be more aware of providing educational opportunities that meet the needs of all students.

I created this Lesson based on the Sheltered Instruction Observational Plan (SIOP) for the class I was apart of during my SEE intern and Student Teaching.  This artifact provides evidence of diversity (DM1) and my capabilities to meet the needs of all of the students in my class. I had the opportunity to work in a very diverse class. There was a legally blind student, an autistic student, a student with cerebral palsy, a student with a severe speech problem, and all of the other students needs.  This artifact provides evidence that I will be able to adapt my lesson plans to the different needs of the students in my class.
