I never gave any thought to becoming a teacher until about three years ago. I always knew that I wanted to help people, but I wasn’t quite sure how. One day after I met with a school counselor I began thinking that I might want to become a teacher. That coming semester I signed up for a few pre-requisite classes and started down the Education path. From day one of my classes I knew I wanted to teach school. I have enjoyed spending time in the classroom, and am so glad for the experience.
I believe that I would make a great teacher because I know how important an education is. I want students to be successful; it is rewarding to me to help them reach that success. I have high expectations, but at the same time my expectations are attainable. I also believe that I have a professional demeanor and attitude. I had the opportunity many years ago to visit Cabo San Lucas, Mexico. It was there that I saw many deprived children who did not have the opportunity to go to school. My eyes were opened to the importance of an education, and I want to give students the opportunity to receive the greatest education.
There are so many things that I hope to have in progress or completed within the next ten years. I want to have a few years of teaching first grade under my belt. I want to create a classroom that is welcoming and comfortable. I will continue to be a life long learner. I also hope to have started a family and have children on the way. I think the first step at becoming a better teacher is to trust yourself. Setting goals are a great way to strive to get them accomplished. I am so excited about teaching, that having that ambition alone will make me a better teacher.
